We are currently hiring a:
Sales Executive – Intellectual Property Services


At TechInsights, not only are we industry veterans, but we are global market leaders in the intellectual property space, providing an array of IP services to a who’s who of clients. We have a unique opportunity for an experienced sales professional to act as a trusted advisor to major technology organizations with large patent portfolios.

As a Sales Executive, your mission will be to establish and develop accounts within North America and be accountable for driving the sales process from initial engagement to close. You will work closely with, and receive guidance from, subject matter experts within TechInsights to offer our clients top-level solutions.

Ideally, this position is based in Ottawa but TechInsights will consider candidates from other locations who meet the qualifications.
• Engage in a highly collaborative and dynamic work environment with a team of cross-functional stakeholders (internal management, sales, marketing, engineering, product, etc.)
• Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand client base
• Establish and maintain strong client relationships; educate clients on services, products and technology trends. Sell primarily to senior management (director, VP, C-level) at target accounts
• Gather and understand client business needs and objectives and recommend appropriate solutions; communicate value proposition through proposals and presentations
• Maintain the minimum weekly/daily metrics for the role and an appropriate sales pipeline of three times to five times quota
• Forecast accuracy on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis
• Consult with TechInsights' executives to develop and implement an effective, enterprise-wide strategy that improves the effectiveness of the sales channel
• Maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of TechInsights' established services, content and products
• Stay abreast of market trends and maintain a consistent level of market knowledge, supported by over 200 TechInsights technical engineers


• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent work experience would be an asset
• 5+ years of professional experience in a solution-selling or consultative sales roles
• Strong technical acumen and solid understanding of various technology fields, including a network of industry contacts
• Demonstrated ability to grow business with existing accounts, and to identify, develop and close new business opportunities with new accounts
• Proven ability to work well independently while maintaining a targeted, goal-oriented approach to sales
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Experience selling to C-level management and providing high-touch services
• Ideally 3-5 years of experience with Intellectual Property and Patents
• Ability to travel across North America
